I’ve called Massachusetts home for most of my life, and have a deep love for and history in Western Mass, dating back to my days as a camper, counselor, administrator at the YMCA summer camp in Becket.
➤ Those years marked the first time I felt a strong drive to give back to my community, learned I was able to lead with passion and enthusiasm.
➤ I grew up in Eastern MA as a proud public school student and completed my education with a BA in Sociology from Hamilton College in upstate New York.
➤ I lived in Jamaica Plain MA after college, where I began my career as an artist manager and creative coach in the music industry (with some added detours as a music producer, Indie record label VP, and film/tv music licensing and supervision.
➤ In later years I moved into more of a consulting role with artists, coaching small entrepreneurs in media related fields, and consulting with arts organizations
➤ Over my 20 years of leading a boutique artist management firm, I was fortunate in my role as steward and business partner, and helped launch the careers of two of the most financially successful singer-songwriters to come out of the New England folk scene in the past 25 years. Additionally many of my former clients have won multiple Grammy Awards, CMAs, Tony Awards, and even have written some #1 hit country songs.
➤ I've never worked with someone who’s musical talent I didn’t deeply believe in. It was inspiring to be part of the magical role music can have in its ability to bring people together from different backgrounds and help build community.
➤ I was brought up with a belief in community building and community service and engaged in community work during my undergraduate years with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and later producing benefit concerts for a variety of social justice an non-profit organizations.
➤ In my late 30s I was brought on to consult for 2 years Patagonia’s trailblazing NGO 1% for The Planet. I recruited media companies and well known artists to join our mission of giving back to the environment by pledging 1% of their sales towards the stewardship, preservation, and restoration of the natural environment. In my early 40s when I needed a break from the music industry, I worked in residential and commercial leasing in Brooklyn, NY.
